Day 9
We set out at midnight in –10C wrapped up against the cold.
By the light of the moon we head up the scree for the summit. The altitude
renders us all light headed, some feel it’s effects more severely than others. However,
true British grit takes over and we all make it to the summit of Kibo, Uhuru
Peak at 5895m, the roof of Africa!!!
After a short rest we descend some 3000m to Mweka Camp and
some much needed sleep.
Starry Starry night…

put the light on please

it’s dark and it’s cold

Swarbo still doesn’t realise what he’s let himself in for

no photos from the ascent because it was too cold
to take them. Sunrise and our cameras unfroze

Made it!

now we can concentrate on the descent
