“It is our aim
to provide a full and balanced life in the caring, family, atmosphere of a
Christian Co-educational school; to enable young people to develop
relationships and fulfil their potentials as individuals in a secure and happy
environment and thereby learn to play their full part in society as a whole”
With this is in mind it is important to build
a three-way relationship between you, your son and the House Parents. Please
feel free to contact the House Parents
at any time, particularly if you have a concern about your son. He may
tell you things he does not tell us and vice versa. If you get a worrying
letter or phone call from your son, please let us know so we can help.

Boys are allowed to have mobile phones in school, but these are
strictly for use during their free time and in a private place. They must be
switched off during prep, assemblies and after lights out. The telephone number
and the make and model of the phone must be registered with the Housemaster.
These phones are their responsibility.
The boys should not receive or make calls during the following
prep times :

Each year group will have a leader voted in
by the group at the end of each term.
Each
Tower member will be issued with the Rules and Regulations of the House on
arrival. It is their responsibility to ensure it is read, to ensure a smooth
passage through each term.
Calendars are sent out in the Start of year and end of term mailings.
Please make particular note of parents meetings. These are usually held only
once a year for each year group and are preceded by a reception in the House.
Please make arrangements, especially if flights are involved, well in
advance for your son to leave school on the dates shown in the calendar. The
school is unable to accommodate any pupils during the holiday periods. Please
let the Housemaster know your son’s holiday arrangements at least two weeks in
advance of each break.
Before the boys can go on “leave out”, the Housemaster must have
parents permission. If the leave out is with family, then a telephone call
is sufficient but please ring at least two days before so that
arrangements can be made in advance.
If the leave out is to another family, then they must give permission
in writing.
After leave out, please ensure your son is back by 9.30pm on the Sunday
evening. If there are any delays please let the Housemaster know.
If you do not reside in the UK, a Guardian MUST be nominated who will
take responsibility for your son during the breaks if he is unable to go home
or if he should fall ill for any length of time (The school has first class
medical cover and will always provide short-term care).
Community living dictates that sensible security measures should be
applied. We recommend that you note details of all valuable items and insure
the items where appropriate. A lockable tuckbox is essential and all
possessions must be clearly marked. Spare padlock keys can be lodged with the
Housemaster (it is not advisable to use coded padlocks)
Passports and Aeroplane tickets should be lodged with the Housemaster for safekeeping.
House Bank
We strongly recommend that your son uses the House Bank and/or has a bank account in Cheltenham. School rules (and common sense) state that no more than £5 should be kept by the scholar overnight.
Money for the bank can be in cash or cheques (made out to Tower House Pocket Money).
Laundry
Once a week (Tuesday night), clothes are collected from the Boarding House for washing in the school laundry. The clothes are then returned to the house within two days. All clothes must be colourfast and suitable for machine washing and drying. It is essential that all clothes have nametapes sewn onto them. Please send any spare labels in to Matron. Unnamed clothing put into the laundry system will incur a fine.
Boarders are not allowed to keep their cars in school except under
exceptional circumstances and only then with permission from the Second Master.
Car keys will be kept by the Housemaster.
Lifts in cars driven by other scholars are NOT allowed unless written
permission has been given by you in a letter, fax or e-mail to the Housemaster
or Second Master.
A school Doctor has an early
morning Surgery each day and there is a Registered Nurse on duty in school
throughout the day. The Health Centre is situated on the school site with beds
should it be necessary for your son to receive special care either during the
day or night. Tower matron and the House Parents also keep and eye on health
concerns and are First Aid trained.
We hope your son’s stay in
Tower House will be successful, enjoyable and memorable. We look forward seeing
you in September.
